Cybercops

Wow, Cybercops. Guys! it is not Robocop.

Still remember my previous post, are we left behind? The answer is no.

From the Star 20 September 2010, MOSTI needs more civil servants and personnel from private sector to be trained against cyber attacks. Currently the country had 2000 people with ISMS certificate and we still need more.

"Dealing with the cyberworld is always challenging because technology is moving so fast and we need to train experts" said Fadilah Yusof, Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister.

He also mentioned the monitoring is being done by Cybersecurity Malaysia with cooperation by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commision (MCMC) - to fight against hackers and crackers.

I wonder what happened if one day the whole cyberworld stop operating? Is it means everything will stop, business affected, system down, the flight could not fly, the electronic railway train could not move, transaction stop - wow really could not imagine what will happen. Is it means end of the world?

God knows well.

MIS 750

MIS 750

By the way MIS 750 is not a flight number.

Wow! Yesterday was the most exciting moment in the MIS 750 class. It is very interesting. We learn something new - new way of teaching, new way of sharing, new way of caring, new wave of talking.

Are we left behind?

I still remember when email was first introduced. Everything seems like an alien to me. Try to understand but either lazy or really unable to understand and lastly give up. Common words to use, "who cares, it definitely not for me. It is for the future, for the next generation. I got my handphone, that should be enough".

Surprise, .... "Daddy, can you check your email, I sent something to you this morning".

What? An email! What is that?

Now you know, it is not about tomorrow, it is not about today! it is about now! You need to know about internet, intranet, extranet,e-commerce, m-commerce and etc.

Wow! You had no idea how fast is the information technology emerging today. It is really a wake up call. Luckily it package under Management Information System (MIS).

So here we are talking about MIS.

What is MIS?

MIS aids the organization in effective and efficient decision making. The organizational data, like information on the processes, standard operating procedures and audit preparation methodology, are all tabulated and presented in the forms of reports. Also the internal controls for each department that list the flow of work between employees, the authority-responsibility relationships, all are listed by the MIS.

Benefits
The advantages of using an MIS are manifold. An organization that uses MIS is able to record, process, route and tabulate all important business transactions. As and when need arises, the organization is able to incorporate necessary changes and improvements to its areas of concern. For example when an organization sees that the actual and projected sales figures are not in tune with each other, it can take steps to make changes and thus align the two figures.

MIS aids the organization in effective, efficient and economic decision making. It is a system or process that provides information needed to manage organizations effectively.

However,  when talking about MIS, meaning we need large investment.  Large investment could bring two things, either you gain or you pain. This is to pay the MIS developer, infrastructure and architecture, not forgetting the IT staffs.

Nevertheless, MIS could lead to efficient, effective and economic process which could lead to faster information and less time consuming meaning cost savings. Therefore could improve the delivery and make customers satisfied. When customer satisfied more order come in. More order means increase the sales and with the right costing give you optimum profit.

There you go, MIS is now important and relevant to all............... think about it.

MIS facilitates informed decision making. MIS usually represents a number of options from which the organization usually picks the best trade-off for sales, operations and other strategic areas. The top management also analyzes whether its resources are being utilized optimally.

A two-way communication flow is greatly enhanced by MIS. The management freely tells its employees their jobs, and the ways and means in which they are to accomplish the tasks entrusted to them. The employees also in turn discuss their doubts, concerns and problems.
